If your little one loves being outside, going on adventures and learning new skills then Little Owls Preschool is for you!
Nestled in it’s own private, self-contained Woodland at Itchen Valley Country Park, our Ofsted registered Woodland Preschool offers children over 2 years 9 months the opportunity to start their journey into education in a beautiful, outdoor setting.
We have a small, highly qualified and friendly team of staff creating a nurturing environment for the children. Little Owls adopts The Forest School Ethos supporting fundamental first-hand experiences whilst encouraging safe risk taking. They learn through nature and unique hands on experiences, learning skills they may not have the opportunity to learn at home or in a classroom.
We have a lovely mud kitchen for the children to play with, outside washing facilities, a campfire and wonderful decking and canopy for when it is raining. The children are outside all the time running around and playing but there is indoor space available should they wish to use it...most don't! The indoor space includes a quiet area with reading books and indoor play equipment for those really bad weather days.
We are able to achieve Early Learning requirements through an innovative and child centred approach to learning. Staff are able to creatively teach all areas of the curriculum using the outdoor environment and the curious mind of each child.

Children gain exceptional levels of confidence and a very positive attitude to learning. I'm yet to find a Little Owl that doesn't love being there!

Little Owls has been operating throughout Lockdown. The Government recommendations have placed a significant emphasis on using outdoor space for learning noting that being outdoors significantly reduces transmission. This of course is no problem for Little Owls! We use very few toys or equipment to avoid contact points and contamination. Instead we focus on using natural resources to feed their imaginations and encourage open ended play. … there is also never a shortage of leaves, pinecones and twigs!!!
