Youth Options work with Looked After Children (LAC) from across the county. They have been placed in foster care for a variety of reasons and, for whatever reason, have experienced turbulence, instability and change to their lives. This can leave them vulnerable, with complex emotional needs, or struggling in mainstream education.

If everyone took care of children the way you all do, there would be no need for foster carers and the world would be a better place. My young person loves seeing you all.

What We Do

Our team run both centre based and outdoor activities including arts and crafts, team games, educational games, outdoor learning  and music. Each session encourages conversation, maintains engagement with learning, increases confidence and develops self-esteem. They will have the opportunity to develop friendships with other children in similar situations to their own as well as forming relationships with understanding, supportive and caring adults in our staff.

We currently run two targeted programmes for LAC:

  • Impact- a weekly after-school club aimed at children aged 5-11 years old.
  • Re:LACs- an Outdoor holiday club to keep LAC engaged in learning over the school holidays.
